Mr. Kantumoya told the Parliamentary Committee on Information and Broadcasting chaired by Chisamba MP Moses Muteteka that it is unfortunate the media is still not agreed on a common code of ethics and conduct.
The Daily mail chief said unless the media gets organised to regulate itself someone else should move in to do this.
He observed that the Media Ethics Council of Zambia (MECOZ) lacks the legal mandate to enforce ethics and media conduct.
And appearing before the same committee, Times of Zambia Managing Director, John Phiri said the accreditation of journalists should be obligatory.
Mr. Phiri proposed that the accreditation should be done by MECOZ and Zambia News and Information Services.
