100 Firms Expected at ZCSMBA Business Expo

THE Zambia Chamber of Small and Medium Business Association (ZCSMBA) says 100 micro, small and medium enterprises are likely to confirm participation at tomorrow’s annual Business Enterprise Exhibition (BEE).

ZCSMBA executive secretary, Max Sichula, said preparations for the event were almost complete and the association is looking forward to more than 100 small, micro and medium enterprises (SMMEs) including corporate firms to participate.

Mr Sichula said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the exhibition was still open for more firms willing to take part in the annual event.

As at last week 40 firms had confirmed participation.
Mr Sichula said that the association was initially expecting over 250 SMMEs with over 1,000 spectators to attend.

The sixth exhibition is set for May 15th and 16th at the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) village in the Lusaka Agricultural and Commercial Show Grounds.

Mr Sichula said the Zambia Development Agency and other big names such as British American Tobacco (BAT), National Savings and Credit Bank, Zanaco Plc, Stanbic Bank and other commercial banks were sponsoring the event.

He urged financial institutions, business association members, non-members, corporate members and corporate non-members to take advantage of the event to showcase their products.

This year’s event is under the theme: Creating Wealth and Employment through Innovation and would be held in Lusaka because the Lusaka District Business Association put in the strongest bid.

Mr Sichula said most SMMEs had been marginalised at national events such as the Trade Fair in Ndola and the Agricultural and Commercial Show in Lusaka.
He said a lot of attention had been given to the preparation so that SMMEs could stand out.
